I have a dance that has some similiar moves. The A1 (top couple arches) times out to the music perfectly if there's a total of 5 couples. However, I don't know how the other figures would time out with 5 couples. A Dance Called Gypsy Cap or Camp?

I have a partial set of figures for a dance... I beleive it was called A Gypsy Cap or Camp Intrigued me because it used a "Contra Corners" type figure done as -- 1s Gypsy Partner 3/4 and Swing 1st Corner then 1s Gypsy Partner 3/4 and Swing 2nd Corner - then 1s Gypsy and Swing in middle - looks like they then go down the hall in a line of 4. my scribbling says Proper dance but .. my scribbles were pretty bad. Valentine's theme dance

I know this has been covered before (I've searched the archives) but I figured others might want new ideas for programming dances for this weekend. I'm calling a dance on Saturday 2/13 with a Valentine's Day theme. Thus far, I've come up with the following ideas (not in program order yet) Bob's Valentine - Chris Ricciotti Gypsy 'Round Two - Tom Hinds Pam's Clock-wise Valentine (2.5) - Seth Tepfer Love Sting - Rick Mohr Heart of Glass - Cary Ravitz Spring Dance Romance - Dean Snipes The Tease - Tom Hinds Also thinking about: The Country of Marriage - Susan Kevra The Rendezvous - Dan Pearl Caught in the Act - Donna McAllister The Valentine's Day Massacre - Colin Hume (circle mixer, not sure about the clap "massacre" progression) Other ideas? Any dances with titles including "cupid" "arrow" or "chocolate"? I keep finding dances that are heavy on gypsy's, unequal, or have lines of 4 down the hall and I don't want to make my program too heavy on any of those. I came across and purchased the Portland play along selection 2-CD set -- it's actually intended for musicians, so they can "play along." It contains 97 different widely-known contra tunes, mostly in sets of two or three. They are identified by general type, i.e., "New England-Style and Irish Jigs (4:03) Camp Pleasant Jig/ Sonny Brogan's/ Fair Jenny's Jig or "Southern reels, up-tempo (4:11) Jeff City/John Sharp's Hornpipe/Ducks on the Pond. Since these are intended for learning, they are played at moderate tempo. (And there's a list by Key and Meter at the back.) Total time on 2 discs just under 72 minutes. I have the sound tech put this on for the beginner's lesson, as once started, it just moves smoothly along, and nothing needs to be cued up or skipped (waltzes, for instance). I don't know the tune, but it sounds to me like the dance starts with the long lines and finishes with the partner swing. So, the beginning of the dance is cut off the beginning of the YouTube clip and then comes around again at :32. That also makes better choreographic sense, IMHO, and if that's correct then this is Becket formation, not duple improper.
